The modern city of Hong Kong, with its excellent restaurants and comfortable hotels, provided a most welcome change from the tension-filled routine of the Tonkin Gulf. Shopping in this free port proved the major attraction for Jouettmen. This period of rest and recuperation passed quickly, but when JOUETT weighed anchor and got underway, she left Hong Kong with an unblemished liberty record still intact, and her reputation as an Ambassador of Good Will untarnished.

Hong Kong's crowded streets and busy harbor were a welcome change from the relative isolation of South SAR Station.
