Dear Mr. & Mrs. Ducy:
The purpose of this letter is to offer my assistance as your son's Battalion Chaplain.
I sincerely trust the information written in this paragraph will not have to be used, however, it could be invaluable if needed. If a death or serious illness occurs in your immediate family, contact the local American Red Cross office and that office will contact your son. Should your son be involved in any similar circumstances, you will be properly notified through Marine Corps channels. Please do not believe in rumor or hearsay. If you are in doubt about your son's welfare, please write directly to me and I will promptly investigate.
Mail is of utmost importance to your son. Write to him as often as possible. Your letters should include words of encouragement, love, and cheer. Depressing letters are not easy to accept and can be most difficult with which to cope. Please try to avoid letters of sadness and despondency.
Divine Services are available here as they are at home. Your son does have frequent opportunity to worship in the manner of his preference. Please urge him to avail himself to Divine Services.
Again, if I can be of assistance in regard to the welfare of your son please write me. Address your correspondance to: Office of the Chaplain, 7th Communication Battalion, FPO San Francisco 96602. Do not address to the signee of this letter. This Chaplain may not be the Battalion Chaplain when correspondance is necessary. May God Bless you.
Sincerely,
/s/ Aubret H. White
